Vietnam pilots a system for environmental warning, disaster mitigation

Vietnam Net Bridge: A project to pilot the sensor and monitoring system for environment warning and disaster mitigation will be executed in Can Tho and Danang cities within a year from January. Vietnam National Institute of Software and Digital Content Industry will implement the project together with Panasonic System Networks Co., Ltd., and Danang and Can Tho Departments of Information and Communications.

The institute has coordinated with Panasonic System Networks Co. to set up the pilot project to monitor the environment as well as give early disaster warnings. The joint project is part of an earlier agreement between the two governments of Vietnam and Japan. The sensor system will be installed in Can Tho to give flood warnings and supervise the quality of water along the Hau River, and the collected data will be transmitted to the Committee for Flood Protection and the local government.

Meanwhile, in Danang, information from supervisory cameras at beaches and riverbanks will also be sent to the municipal government. Director of the Vietnam-Japan project Pham Huy Hoang said that all of the equipment in the project costing billions of Vietnam dong worth will be sponsored by Panasonic...
